Nicole from our Rehoboth location, had the opportunity to spend a week this past month with the US U-18 Women’s Soccer Team at the Chula Vista Elite Training Center in California. She was responsible for the well-being of the team, which included setting up water and ice, performing treatments and taping before practices, and attending to any of the athletes that were injured during practice. After training she held additional treatment sessions, ice baths and recovery stretching and foam rolling. In addition to double session practices, they played one inter squad scrimmage, a local club team and USC at the StubHub Center in Carson, CA. Gratefully, the girls stayed healthy through the week and they only had minor aches and pains that come with doing double sessions!
Nicole’s aspirations of working with the National Team developed early when Hash worked with my soccer team to do injury prevention when I was in middle school. Currently and during this time, he was working as an Athletic Trainer for the Men’s National Team, which inspired my career choice. While watching the 1999 Women’s World Cup, I dreamt of playing for and then working as the Physical Therapist for the National Team.
Nicole was thrilled to work with this great group of girls who are phenomenal athletes and great people. Having the opportunity to treat and work on this caliber of athletes has always been a dream of hers. Nicole hopes to have the opportunity to work with these girls again soon at the World Cup!
